Marshmallow Laced Hot Fudge Sauce

I've never really considered myself to be much of a food snob ... until a jar of marshmallow Creme (that would be Marshmallow Fluff to most of us) ended up on my kitchen counter.  Don't ask me how it got there, just accept the fact that it was ... which was I had to do!  Have you ever seen a jar of this stuff?  It could easily be used as polyfilla!!  Or super glue!  Seriously, what was I ever going to use it for?

Enter the August 2011 copy of Bon Appetit Magazine (which should give you a pretty good idea as to how long it has taken me to write this post up!) and a recipe for 'Marshmallow Laced Hot Fudge Sauce'.  Sounds pretty good huh?  Read on for all the gory details ...

Marshmallow Laced Hot Fudge Sauce
340g chocolate, chopped
1 tsp cocoa powder
1/2 tsp instant espresso or coffee
300ml double cream
6 tbsp marshmallow creme (!!!)
Vanilla Ice Cream

Combine chocolate, cocoa powder and espresso in a large metal bowl.  Bring cream just to a simmer in a small saucepan over medium heat; pour over chocolate mixture.  Let sit for 30 seconds, then whisk until smooth and glossy.  Fold marshmallow creme into chocolate.

Makes 2 cups

So I may still be more of a food snob than I first thought ... but I'm now I am a food snob with a pretty wicked Hot Fudge Sauce recipe!

PS - These photo's show Hubby's idea of a Hot Chocolate Sundae - he wanted me to let you all know that these are his creations and that maybe he should get a food blog of his own ;0)

  7. I know that marshmallow creme is weird and soooo sticky, but it does make some good stuff - best whoopie pie filling. That sauce looks awesome, I'm not a huge icecream fan but I love a sundae with lots of delicious sauce. YUM

  8. The very idea of marshmallow fluff always makes me feel slightly sick - so I applaud your efforts in making it look attractive - but I can't help but think that hubby's ones with all the sticks make me think of E saying "give 'em the tongs" in his best bogan voice :-)
